"Twelfth Night, or What You Will” – that is the full title of the play. The title refers not to the content, but to the time of production - more specifically, the first performance. The "Twelfth Night" (the 12th from Christmas) falls on the evening of January, 6, and it is the final period of Christmas games, practices and representations. That evening at the English court they traditionally gave performances.
This merry romantic tale is considered the most carefree and mischievous of Shakespeare’s comedies. Despite the fact that the main intrigue gets to be known to the spectators right away, the adventures of charming Viola, disguised in male attire and a servant to the handsome duke Orsino, do not lose in fascination. And although the ending is predictable, on the way to the denouement there will be a lot of comical scenes, unexpected twists and bright moments, traditional for a ply by William Shakespeare.
